I used acrylic paint in "Caribbean Blue" 3 coats, some fun clearance paisley fabric and hot pink satin ribbon.

Stars and Stripes no more..

I went thrifting with my mom recently.  I got a ton a furniture, for like $30. My first completed project was this chair..

It had lots of potential..

It wasn't terrible, but it was far from great.

It had been blue, then white, then red and white striped, then half red... It was a mess.

Painter's Tape. Use it.

I took the seat off...

The seat cushion, was sadly attached with hot glue. I re covered it with this cutesy scrap of chicken fabric my mom had..

The bottom of the actual seat was horribly warped and cracked..

I used a smaller scrap of green fabric to cover the sad seat bottom.  Then finished covering the cushion..

I tried to center the chicken stripe, but it wasn't wide enough.

I painted the whole chair yellow (Valspar Golden Maize), and actually I'm pretty pleased with the results.

Getting the mattresses down the tiny hall, and the steep stairs, was NOT fun.

My Dresser. It had been all white. I forgot to take a before picture, but this is an after!!

I painted the mirror black..

and this mirror frame had also been gold..

My first attempt at upholstry.. Pretty good if you ask me!!

A nightstand I bought off of craig's list for $15!!

I crackled this, and then put the black stripes on the seat of this chair.

The nightstand was a pain in the ass to paint.. but I fixed it!!

My reward for my weekend of hard work, this piece of delicious Pineapple Coconut cream cake

 Hard work, but it totally paid off!!

DIY Bed

My bedroom is super tiny. I had a queen size bed in it, but it was just too much. I had to turn sideways to walk between my bed and my dresser. I thought that was just silly. So when I found a full size bed at one of my favorite thrifty stores {the Painted Picket-The owner, Amy, take donated or cheap bought furniture and distresses, paints, refinishes, re-upholsterers and otherwise re makes furniture. If you get it before she touches it, its really cheap, after she's done with it the mark up is kind of ridiculous}I asked her how much. She had just gotten it in and was sending it to the painter. I offered her $35 for it, and she took it!!

As usual, I sanded and cleaned all the pieces before I started painting..

It took 3 good coats on the head and foot boards, I didn't worry too much about the side rails because they barely show, and they weren't coated with wood finish in the first place, so the paint stuck a lot better to those.

Detailing:

Obviously not perfect.. but neither am I!

I used a high gloss black paint, and LOTS of painter's tape to protect the rest of the head board..

The Finished Product:

I put the stripes on the nightstand as well...Don't be jealous, it's easy to do!!

I Lovvvvee my new bed.. I can't say the same for my mattress.. but whatever!!

DIY Desk

I've been refurbishing some thrift store furniture lately. All at fantastic prices!!! I got this desk for $30!

I sanded everything really well, slapped some "classic red" paint on it, and added new drawer pulls and voila!! New Desk!!
